When should you book a confinement centre so your dates are secured, without paying before you are certain? This guide is prepared by the Care Lady team at Roseville Confinement Villa & Spa, a Muslim-friendly confinement centre in Bangi Gateway, Selangor.

When to book a confinement centre, and why book early?

Book as soon as you have a fairly firm due date. The NHS says your due date is estimated during the scan at 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy. You then have a date to check availability against, and time to visit before paying a deposit.

Why not wait until the third trimester? Each private room hosts one mother for her entire confinement, so mothers due in the same period each need their own room. As room availability varies, check availability once you have a date.

Also, a due date is an estimate, not a promise. The NHS says only 1 in 20 babies arrive on their due date. So book early, but only pay the deposit after you have visited and feel sure.

Gather information in the first trimester, visit and pay the deposit in the second, and settle the details in the third. Weeks follow the NHS pregnancy guide.

What to do on a villa visit before you pay a deposit

A Roseville villa visit is free, with no obligation, and takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Bring your husband or mother, see the actual rooms, meet our team and discuss the menu and allergies. Have your due date ready and ask:

  1. What does the deposit secure?
  2. When is the balance due, and can I pay in instalments?
  3. What happens if my baby arrives early, late or by planned C-section?
  4. What is the cancellation policy?
  5. Who can contact the centre for me after the birth?

For carers, meals and hygiene, see our guide to choosing a confinement centre, confinement lady or home. Cannot visit yet? Watch the room videos on our rooms and villa page.

See the villa first, then decide

Free, 30 to 45 minutes, no obligation. Bring your due date so we can check availability.

What does the deposit secure, and when is the balance due?

At Roseville, the deposit is paid when you book to secure your dates, and it is deducted from the package price. 50% of the balance is due 30 days before check-in and the rest 7 days before, by instant bank transfer or by credit card at the Roseville counter. Late payment may result in cancellation of the booking. The deposit amount and current prices are on our packages and prices page.

Cancellation policy: read it before you pay

We want you to know this before you pay, not after. If you cancel, the deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel less than 14 days before check-in, no payments are refunded. If you are unsure, wait until you are ready. Policies differ between centres, so ask each centre for its policy in writing.

What if your baby arrives early, late or by planned C-section?

At Roseville, booking dates are usually confirmed about 7 days before your due date. If your baby arrives early or late, let us know and we will adjust your check-in date, subject to room availability at the time. For planned changes, ask at least 7 days before the original date. The NHS says pregnancy normally lasts 37 to 42 weeks, so changes are common.

  • Early: the NHS defines labour before the 37th week as premature. Let us know straight away and follow your doctor’s advice on discharge.
  • Late: the NHS says induction is offered if labour has not started naturally by 41 weeks. Share any induction date with us.
  • Planned C-section: the NHS says planned caesareans are usually done from the 39th week. Once you have a date, let us know so we can match check-in to your expected discharge. See our C-section confinement guide.

If your baby needs to stay in hospital

Babies born early or with jaundice may need to stay in hospital longer. A baby with jaundice needs to be seen by a doctor; Roseville is not a clinic and does not assess or treat babies. Let us know early so we can adjust your check-in date, subject to availability. The deposit and cancellation policies still apply, so ask for your options in writing.

Tip from the Roseville team

Save Roseville’s WhatsApp number on your husband’s or sister’s phone. After the birth, one message is enough: date of birth, type of birth and expected discharge date.

Who can book: your husband, sister or mother?

Your husband, sister or mother can book a visit and manage the booking for you, provided you agree on the room and length of stay. Have these details ready:

  • Your due date, chosen hospital and planned type of birth, if known.
  • Package length and preferred room (Standard, Exclusive or Premium).
  • Food allergies and family food customs.
  • Two contact numbers where you can be reached.

When to book a confinement nanny at home

The same principle applies: ask as soon as you know your due date, and confirm early so there is time to find another option. Before paying, ask what the deposit secures, what happens if your baby comes early or late, and what the cancellation policy says. Some families combine both: a few nights at a confinement centre (Roseville packages start at 3 days 2 nights), then home. Compare options in our guide to confinement centre, confinement lady or home.

Your final weeks before check-in

The NHS suggests packing your hospital bag at least 3 weeks before your due date, in case your baby comes early. Pack your confinement bag then too.

  • Pack for mother and baby with our confinement centre packing checklist.
  • Prepare documents: both MyKads, the hospital discharge note, the mother’s and baby’s KKM health record books, and your booking confirmation.
  • Pay the full balance at least 7 days before your check-in date.
  • Check in between 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm; your arrival day counts as day one of your stay.
  • Worried about signs of early labour? Contact your hospital or doctor straight away.

Frequently asked questions

When should I book a confinement centre?

As soon as you know your due date, usually after your first scan. Compare options in the first trimester, visit and pay the deposit in the second, then confirm the room, package length and food allergies in the third. Booking early gives more choice of dates, but pay the deposit only once you are sure.

Is it too late to book a confinement centre in the third trimester?

Not necessarily; it depends on room availability for your dates. Send the centre your due date, package length and preferred room so availability can be checked quickly. If your first-choice room is taken, ask about another room category or a shorter stay. At Roseville, you can ask on WhatsApp.

What happens to my booking if my baby arrives early or late?

At Roseville, booking dates are usually confirmed about 7 days before your due date. If your baby arrives early or late, let us know and we will adjust your check-in date, subject to room availability at the time. The same applies if you have a planned C-section or your baby needs to stay in hospital.

Is a confinement centre deposit refundable?

It depends on each centre’s policy, so ask for it in writing before you pay. At Roseville, the deposit is deducted from the package price but is non-refundable if you cancel. Cancellations less than 14 days before check-in are not eligible for any refund. That is why we encourage a visit before you pay.

Can my husband or sister book for me?

Yes. Your husband, sister or mother can book a visit and manage the booking for you. Have your due date, chosen hospital, package length, preferred room and food allergies ready. The Free Confinement Plan can be shared with your husband or sent to Roseville, so everyone works from the same dates.
