How we count
FAQ
This calculator counts the day you give birth as day 1, the same as our Confinement Plan. So day 44 falls 43 days after your delivery date. Some families start counting the day after birth; if yours does, add one day to each date. How long is confinement?
By Malay custom, a full confinement usually lasts 40 to 44 days, and some families choose 14 or 28 days. Medically, the postnatal period is the first six weeks, about 42 days. How long is confinement?
There is no fixed C-section confinement length. Tradition still suggests 40 to 44 days, and the body needs about six weeks. Get your doctor's approval before a bengkung, massage, hot compress or sauna. Confinement after a C-section
There is no fixed day. Many mothers do it near the end, for example in the final week of a 44-day confinement. After a caesarean or with a health condition, get a doctor's clearance first. Closing confinement: when to do it
The dates in this calculator are estimates based on traditional counting and general guidance. This is not medical advice; please follow your doctor’s advice.
